Marco Bardazzi is deputy foreign editor of the Italian daily La Stampa. He was previously America correspondent for the main Italian press agency ANSA from 2000 to 2009. He is one of the founders of the cultural centre Crossroads, with offices in New York, Washington, Chicago and Houston, and a member of the editorial board of the magazine OASIS, which deals with issues associated with the Catholic community in Muslim countries. He is the winner of the 2004 Elmo d’argento journalism award for a series of articles on the firemen of Ground Zero in New York and the 2005 Saint-Vincent journalism award for his reportage on the death penalty in America. He is the author of Una Banca nel Mirino (1993), Sotto il cielo d’America (2004), the novel La scala spezzata (2004), a biography of Pope Benedetto XVI also translated into English and Spanish entitled Nella vigna del Signore (2005) and L’America che non ti hanno mai detto (2006). He is also co-author with Massimo Gaggi of L’ultima notizia. L’informazione dopo il crollo degli imperi di carta due to be published in March 2010. He writes a blog entitled Da Gutenberg a Twitter, appunti sulla rivoluzione digitale nel giornalismo.
