Sami Ben Gharbia is Advocacy Director of Global Voices. He fled Tunisia in 1998 and currently lives in The Netherlands as political refugee. He is the co-founder of nawaat.org, a Tunisian collective blog about news and politics. Founded in 2004 by a group of pioneering international bloggers, Global Voices aggregates, curates, and amplifies the global conversation online – shining light on places and people other media often ignore.
