Alessandro Cataldo is chief operating officer of UniCredit Banca di Roma, part of the largest Italian banking group. His experience in the world of banking begins in 1979, at Credito Italiano in Naples. In 1985 he becomes agency director in Catania, and in 1987 he moves to Rome to become headquarters vice-director. Between 1989 and 1995 he continues his experience between Naples and Salerno, until he is promoted to general director of UniCredit Sim Milan, to then become, in 1999, managing director. In 2001 he goes back to Naples to cover the role of southern Italy director of Credito Italiano. In 2003 he became regional director for southern Italy of Unicredit Banca, and in 2006, central condirector of Unicredit Group.
