Giulio Cavalli is an Italian actor, writer and theatre director. He is the founder of the theatre company Bottega dei Mestieri Teatrali. His plays tend to deal with controversial current or recent events such as Dopo (Re) Carlo (non) torna dalla battaglia di Poitiers (2006) on the riots at the 2001 G8 summit in Genova, Linate 8 ottobre 2001: la strage (2006) on the accident at Linate airport in Milan in which 118 people died, Bambini a dondolo (2007) on sexual tourism. His most recent play is Do ut Des (2008) on the mafia. He now lives under police protection as a result of threats to his life associated with this play.
