Donatella Della Ratta is Arab media and development manager for Creative Commons, with more than a decade of experience in Arab media research. She is author of Media Oriente (2000) on Arab satellite channels and editor of What the Arab world thinks about US President Barack Obama (2009).  She was advisor of the Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona for the art exhibition Occidente desde Oriente in 2005 and created West by the Arab media, a two day festival of screenings and debates on how Arab TV channels picture the West, hosted in Rome (2008) and in Brussels (2009). She lives somewhere between Rome and the Arab world.
