The late Clement Freud MP, grandson of Sigmund Freud, on finding himself completing hotel check-in formalities next to Winston Churchill MP, grandson of the eponymous British wartime leader, once remarked that it was the only time he’d ever been outgrandfathered. Will festival speaker Diego Bunuel, grandson of Luis Bunuel, be outgrandfathered during his time in Perugia? Unlikely but not impossible.

Diego Bunuel is an award-winning documentary-maker. Since 2006 he has been the presenter and director of the documentary series Don’t Tell My Mother, co-produced by the French TV channel Canal Plus and the National Geographic Channel, in which he offers a new look on rarely travelled areas affected by conflicts and wars such as Afghanistan, Colombia, North Korea, Congo, Venezuela, Israel, Iran, Iraq, The Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Kosovo) and Pakistan. His new show on Canal Plus is Les Nouveaux Explorateurs. At the festival he will make a presentation of his work and discuss the interface of documentaries and journalism.
